Just as hurricane Sandy was making misery for millions, life was a lark for these two boys who were blissfully skim boarding in the wide, level waves next to the Pismo Beach pier in central California.
They made it look easy, but I wasn’t fooled — this time.
A few years back, having seen kids ride effortlessly on these boards, I bought one of these on impulse at Costco. My wife asked what I was going to do with it. “Ride it,” I said. She nodded. I went to YouTube for some pointers and concluded it was best left to the young.
It makes a nice prop, though.
I loved the lines of the waves and the shadows of the boys — a happy moment captured in a click.
